Laminating Sheets Create Ornaments at Kids’ Holiday Party

By now, it is undeniable that the Holiday season is in full swing. Gift giving, festive lights and holiday parties are just a few of the beloved aspects of this time of year. Recently, I was helping a friend organize a holiday party for her daughter. Since all the kids attending were between the ages of 4 through 8, she was having a difficult time coming up with an activity that everyone would be able to participate in. After much discussion, we ended up deciding on a DIY ornament project for the kids. The goal was to keep it simple so all the kids could enjoy it, while still creating something cute for them to take home with them.

We printed out holiday cartoon images that the kids could color. Their choices were endless, but the gingerbread man was a party favorite. Every supply possible ranging from stickers to markers to glitter was available to help them create their own masterpieces. Once the images were colored, we had the kids write their name and date on the back. The next step was the laminating phase. Now, while everyone was able to color their drawings, many of the kids needed help with this step. We used C-Line’s Super Heavyweight Cleer Adheer Laminating Sheets to create a professional finish on the ornaments. I decided on using the super heavyweight version of the laminating film because I wanted extra protection for the ornaments so that they could last for many more holiday seasons to come. The sheets, which are 9 x 12 in size, fit perfect for this project. Some even fit two small ornaments on one page. So how did I laminate? First, I peeled off the backing paper and applied the first sheet directly to the drawing. I made sure to smooth out the sheet to avoid any air bubbles. Using a ruler worked really well for me to ensure that the lamination was flawless. In order to laminate the back side of the drawing, repeat the same steps as before. Once this is complete, the laminating film may need to be trimmed to tailor it to the ornaments size. All that is left to do is punch a hole at the top of the ornament and string yarn through it, so it can be displayed. The DIY ornament project was a huge success with the kids at the holiday party. The best past was that all ages were able to participate and create a decoration they were proud of. What holiday crafts has C-Line helped you with this holiday season?
